海角社区 — Hackensack Meridian JFK University Medical Center has expanded its comprehensive cancer care services with the opening of a newly renovated, four-story facility at 80 James Street in Edison, NJ. This $14 million investment enhances access to advanced cancer treatment, providing patients with expert-led, multidisciplinary care close to home.
The new building doubles the number of infusion suites available to patients while offering expanded space for surgical, medical, and oncology services. The facility is designed to support seamless collaboration among specialists, ensuring a patient-centered approach to cancer treatment.
In addition to benefitting from a multidisciplinary facility equipped with the latest technology, expertise and treatments, eligible patients receiving care at the center will also be able to secure financial assistance thanks to a $1 million gift by the Sarala Bathena Foundation, for whom the Cancer Center lobby will be named. Established in honor of Sarala Bathena, who passed away in 2006 from late stage renal carcinoma two days shy of her 46th birthday, the Sarala Bathena Oncology Patient Assistance Fund is available to help cover expenses that could otherwise be a barrier to treatment for patients, such as transportation, medication or other necessities.
“At Hackensack Meridian Health, we are committed to delivering world-class cancer care in a compassionate and convenient setting,” said Robert C. Garrett, CEO, Hackensack Meridian Health. “The expansion at 80 James Street strengthens our ability to provide cutting-edge treatment and personalized care for our patients. “We are grateful to our partners who helped make this new facility a reality, and to donors like the Bathena’s who so generously keep our patients’ needs top of mind.”
"The strength of this new facility lies in our multidisciplinary approach. By bringing together experts from various specialties under one roof, we can offer patients a truly integrated and personalized treatment plan, ensuring they receive the most comprehensive care possible, close to home,” said Regina Foley, PhD, MBA, RN, Executive Vice President, Interim President Central Region, Chief Nurse Executive & Chief Transformation and Integration Officer.
In addition to cancer services, this new facility offers other surgical services including:
- Surgical Oncology & Specialty Surgery
- Colorectal Surgery

Shypula, MD, oncologist, JFK University Medical Center.
